Episode 84 - Breaking the Silence on Menopause at Work with Karen Stein

Have you ever been navigating big changes in your body and mind… while still showing up every day at work, expected to perform at your best?

For many women, perimenopause and menopause arrive right in the middle of their most senior and demanding career years. Yet for decades it has been something we’ve quietly managed behind closed doors.

In this episode of It’s a Mindset, I’m joined by Karen Stein, a menopause champion, executive and group coach, keynote speaker and award-winning author who is on a mission to change the way organisations understand and support women through this important life stage. Karen is passionate about being “MAD about menopause” - not in frustration, but in raising Menopause Awareness and Dialogue so workplaces become places where women can continue to thrive, lead and contribute at their highest level.

Having gone through menopause myself, this conversation really resonated with me. Looking back, I often think how helpful it would have been to have more awareness and support around what was happening physically, mentally and emotionally. Instead of feeling like something you just have to push through, imagine if it was openly understood and supported.

Karen is helping move the conversation from something private and invisible to something that leaders, organisations and colleagues understand as a business, leadership and wellbeing issue.

We also explore Karen’s inspiring personal journey of studying later in life to become an executive coach, and how that decision opened up a deeply fulfilling new chapter in her career.

If you’ve ever wondered how we can create more understanding, compassion and support around menopause - in workplaces and in relationships - this is such an important conversation.
