Episode 62 - How to Change Your Life with Just 1% of Your Day with Cooper Chapman

Have you ever wondered how much of an impact just 1% of your day could have on your life?

Turns out, it’s only 14 minutes - and according to my guest, that tiny slice of time can completely transform your mindset, your habits, and your happiness.

This week, I’m joined by Cooper Chapman, professional surfer, speaker, and founder of The Good Human Factory. After more than a decade on the waves, Cooper’s true passion has become helping people strengthen their mental health through simple, intentional practices that build resilience and connection.

His journey started close to home; inspired by his dad’s experience with depression and the heartbreaking loss of people close to his family. Since then, Cooper’s mission has been clear: to create a world where people don’t just avoid struggling with mental health, but actually learn how to thrive - from classrooms to corporate boardrooms.

As someone who’s always loved exploring well-being (and who also has a surf-obsessed family!), chatting with Cooper was such a pleasure. His energy is calm, grounded, and real - and his 1% philosophy is something we can all bring into our lives, no matter how busy we are.

Key Episode Takeaways:

  • Being intentional with just 1% of your day (14 minutes) can change your life.
  • Practising gratitude as a community creates a ripple effect of positivity and connection.
  • The power of habit stacking - small shifts compound over time into huge transformation.
  • Cooper’s mission is to flip the script on mental health - from crisis management to everyday well-being, in schools, workplaces, and beyond.

About the Guest:

A professional surfer for more than 10 years, Cooper grew up in Narrabeen in New South Wales, Australia. Cooper’s interest in mental health was prompted by his father’s bout with depression and the suicide of two family friends. Meditating on a regular basis and practicing mindfulness helps Cooper manage his anxiety and perform at a high level, whether he’s competing in a contest or giving a speech.

With a low-key, caring manner that connects with all audiences, Cooper Chapman has trained thousands of Australian students, teachers, athletes, and corporates to increase their mental strength and resilience.
